Dev Log #0 - State of the Game

Sabbatical Gallery @ Melbourne, AUS

There are lots in the pipeline for Ecliptic now that all of our public exhibitions have gone and finished! We were very fortunate as a team to showcase our game publicly 3 times in person and each and everyone of us are very proud of what we achieved!

Pre-Production???

Now that 2024 is on the horizon, Ecliptic is going back into pre-production which may seem like a strange choice since we have a demo but since we created our vertical slice over 4 months we had to scope our game down a lot to fit the deadlines so a lot of aspects of the game and its development got put on the backburner. However, it is a good thing as there were so many interesting ideas that we just didn’t have time to sink our teeth into as a team and now have the chance to do so.

Funding!

Fortunately the majority of the team live and work in Melbourne, Australia which means we get access to some pretty awesome resources like funding and grants from government bodies to produce games! Ecliptic will be lovingly tossed into the ring of funding rounds so that we can not only support its development until release but also support our wonderful international team members while they cannot be here in person with us (love ya Prie <3).

More Exhibitions D:

Now here is the kicker! Just when you thought we had enough public showcases, we have a lot planned for 2024! At the moment we are gearing up for PAX AUS 2024 which lands in October but there are other showcases on our horizon like SXSW Sydney 2024, GamesCon Asia 2024 and The Games Expo 2024.

Steam Release & Beyond

While we don’t have close to an official release date, month or even year, we do want to release Ecliptic in roughly a year’s time whether that means the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. There also has been some talk in the team about releasing our game on switch as well, as the format suits our game quite nicely (and the controls are ironically mapped to match switch since it's the common console in the team).

Dev Logs!

While we are back in pre-production for Ecliptic, there isn’t all that much left to share other than the demo’s behind the scenes but we would love to create dev-logs in the future from all of the team so that there is something for everyone to enjoy! We have plans for individual and smaller team dev logs that cover certain topics and areas of Ecliptic’s development so that anything interesting or fun about the programming or the 2D art or a goofy animation mishap can be archived here along with the beginnings of Ecliptic!

Until next time!
